Communications training

What it is

Do you, your team, or your business need some pointers on making your voice heard?

Everyone benefits from better communications. My training sessions help you and your team to be better communicators - so that you don’t have to get me, or anyone else, to do your comms for you.

I share all the tips and lessons I’ve learned from the last ten years and provide you with practical tools and resources. These courses include a general introduction to better comms at work, which is relevant for anyone from board level and down, and a suite of deep-dive interconnected sessions which take you through all the practical stages of developing your own comms strategy and delivery plan to tangibly support your strategic goals.

I also offer comms power-hours for start-ups and people who aren’t in a position to hold team training sessions, but who are looking for some early comms consultancy and ideas to kick-start their company communications.

What it looks like

At the moment all training sessions are held remotely. All you need is for your team to have a spare hour, an interest in how better comms can help them do their jobs, and an internet connection.

  • Making yourself heard: a 1-hour session showing how core comms principles are beneficial in business, whatever your role, and can help everyone to work more effectively. Useful for anyone who’s great at their job and wants to be much better at getting their point across at work (and in life!). Relevant to any level and sector, held with up to 100 people (let’s talk if you’d like a larger group). Get in touch to book a session for your team.

  • Professional comms without a comms team (coming soon): a 4-part series of 1-hour sessions to give you the tools to create your own strategic communications approach. Ideal for organisations where ‘communications’ is the remit of one or more people who aren’t comms professionals. Held with up to 15 people.

    • Setting a communications strategy: making sure your communications support your organisation’s strategic objectives, identifying where comms can resolve existing problems (and where they can’t), and establishing your organisational narrative

    • Knowing your audiences: identifying priority audiences, understanding what you want from them, and putting yourself in their shoes

    • Communications planning and delivery: channel-mapping (what ways do you have available to you to reach your audiences), aligning comms to company milestones, and actually making it all happen

    • Evaluation: how to keep track of what’s successful and what’s not, and adapting your communications so they keep on working for you

All training courses include a pre-course conversation to allow me to tailor the session(s) to the level and experience of the attendees, and include follow-up resources. Let’s talk if you’d like to find out more.

  • Comms power-hours: a 1-1 consultation with me where we talk through how better comms could support your business. Ideal for anyone who needs some quick bespoke comms thinking and suggestions for how to get conversations moving, but doesn’t have the resources yet to book a team training session or hire external comms resource. I’ll email you some questions in advance to guide our conversation, and we’ll have a chat over Zoom at a time which suits you. I’ll then follow up with a summary of our conversation and links to any resources we’ve discussed. Book your power-hour now.
